have you ever felt
it was all a joke right from the start?
laughters, and crooked smiles
in the mirror you discover
details are fading, as you get close

have you ever heard a lonesome rant
desperate yet scornful
so deep your inner voice is broken
and you doubt your memories are but shenanigans?
and you can’t sort out
when it started to rot
you got used to staring at your dreams
fallen into the mud like wounded swallows

if only some deja vu could
remind you, you felt like this, some other times, before
why can’t you fully embrace your temper?
why can’t you finally come clean?
we build our lives upon debris of others’
and claim respect out of a command chain

losing all hope is as bad as it seems
a bonfire of empty frames
how many times did you just come back home
after one of your shocking, hurtful antics
safely rocked in the warmth of a friendly whisper
knowing everything soon would be buried
but all you get is plenty of pages
filled with rock bottom lines

if only some deja vu could

should you ever free yourself
nowadays you’re only a bunch
of pictures on a closet’s door
what you’ve been doing so long
